Manchester City advanced through to the quarter-final of the FA Cup with a 4-1 victory over Newport County. In what was one was one of the worst pitches seen all season for City it took a huge second half effort to seethe result through.

City, usually so efficient and calculated, were bugged by the conditions, unable to string keep together sustained periods of possession.

Thanks to Leroy Sane, a double for golden boy Phil Foden and a Riyad Mahrez finisher in the 90’ City won in the end with ease.

On to the reaction:

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“It was a really tough game.

“They scored a late goal which is typical of these kinds of games but @PhilFoden scored a great goal.

“Big congratulations to him. Big compliment to the guys today.”

“I was impressed with the home crowd - they supported a lot. The #FACup is special for that reason.

“They used their strong points better than us. We don’t play these kind of games every week. That’s why we are delighted today.”

(On David Silva) “He is incredible. “At 33 years old, to fight and win duels, is really, really good.

“David is a fantastic player. He played here against a League Two club like an 18-year-old - like @PhilFoden.”
