Vincent Kompany is ready to sign a one year contract to extend his tenure at Manchester City. This comes from a report from Goal’s Sam Lee, who reports:

“The Belgium international is incredibly popular with the club’s hierarchy and still has a role in Pep Guardiola’s first team plans for next season.”

The report also states that Kompany is willing to take a pay cut to remain with the club. Kompany signed for City in 2008 and per the report his testimonial is scheduled to take place in August, at the start of the 2019-20 season.

Kompany has been tasked with fitness and health problems as of late, but him re-signing is a positive.

Which makes for good news for City fans, Kompany is the utmost professional and captain, keeping him around in any capacity is good for the clubhouse. Even with other reports of bringing in another Center Back like Ajax’s Matthijs De Ligt or promoting Eric Garcia to the first team, Kompany can be a mentor to them as well as the current CB’s in Laporte and Stones.

What do you think City fans? Like the re-signing? Let us know in the comments.
