Pep Guardiola remains optimistic about the club’s title aspirations and spoke on the injuries the club faces among other things.
Pep on Wolves-
“Wolves is always one of the toughest opponents,” declared Guardiola.
“What Nuno (manager Nuno Espirito Santo) is doing is incredible.”
“Promoted from the Championship to Premier League.
“(In their) first season (back in the Premier League) we drew there. Away it is one of the toughest and at home they are incredibly organised and pace up front.
“Hopefully, we can maintain the level of last week and the last games.”
Pep on Injuries-
“David Silva is better, but he still continues [to be out],” he said at Monday’s pre-match press conference. “Stones is not ready.
“Sergio is not ready to start. I don’t know how long, but every day in training he is getting better.”
Pep on racism dilemma-
The Catalan acknowledged football faces a challenge in its bid to eradicate racism, but feels everyone needs to work together to address the problem, both in the game and in society.
“Of course [I would support players walking off],” he added.
“My players support initiatives and what you have to do is battle day by day. It’s not about one club.
“You have to fight every day, in the schools and the families to do better in the future generations.
“It is a battle day by day and of course we support initiatives.
“I think it was a problem that happened for decades, centuries. Now it’s visualised more because the media is closer to the problem.
”We have to fight, but we need time to eradicate it.”
Pep on fans-
“I think today the spectators were incredible,” he said.
“We played so good. When that happens, our fans are always behind us.
“I have the feeling they are there when we play good. But we need them. The players deserve it.
“I need my fans when we concede a goal but have played incredibly well. We need them. We can’t always play 90 minutes perfect.
“Inside the first ten minutes we were not good. We lost some balls. We didn’t play simple. We didn’t start to connect again after the half-time break.
“In the bad moments, we need them. When the opponent is good, we need them to be a better team.”
Pep on title race-
“When we lose, I have to go home and it is a disaster,” he added. “When we play now we are going to chase Liverpool.
“Leicester so far have done better than us. Hopefully Leicester can play well against Liverpool.
“But we have an incredibly tough game in Wolves and we know how difficult that is, with Adama [Traore], with [Raul] Jimenez and all the players that are there.
”We will try. I think it is unrealistic to think we will chase them. We have to try and win our games, be there and secure qualification for the Champions League.
“You never know what could happen. When a team lose one game in their last 53, 54, I’m not optimistic to think they are going to lose four or five in 10 or 11 games.
“I don’t think so, because they are an incredibly strong team. So, [we must] relax, try and play like today and we will see at the end what happens.”
