Manchester City announced the signing of FIFA esports player Ryan Pessoa.
Ryan becomes Manchester City’s second esports player for the FIFA 20 season.
Ryan should be a familiar face for City, having represented the club in last season’s eClub World Cup in which Ryan and Shellzz reached the quarter finals.
Last season he ranked 17th globally on Xbox.
Pessoa spoke:
“It’s a massive honour to sign for such a prestigious club, who have clear ambition both on the football pitch, and on the virtual one” Ryan said. “I will do my best to ensure I perform at the highest level to make this club proud”.
Ryan will participate in the upcoming ePremier League qualifiers and will play against Cityzens from around the UK for the chance to represent Manchester City at the ePremier League final next March.
In addition to the partnership with FaZe Clan, it seems City is doing a much more concerned effort to enter the world of competitive eSports and tap in to that market.
I like it, considering I play the FIFA video game and this could only attract more fans both with FaZe and with now two recognizeable eSports competitors.
