Manchester City will take on either Spurs or Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final next month in Wembley after beating Burton Albion 1-0 in a more even second leg.
A final aggregate score of 10-0, the game was over as a contest in the first-half of the first leg at the Etihad, but credit to the League One side who kept battling to the end.
Today it was Sergio Aguero who scored the only goal of the game midway through the first-half to seal a record semi-final victory. The game saw the inclusion of plenty of youngsters like Eric Garcia, Philipe Sandler and the debut of Felix Nmecha.
On to the reaction:
Pep Guardiola
“It was quite good, the pitch was so dangerous, so slippery.
We made a good game, we missed the last pass but Burton had two or three clear chances. Muric was outstanding.
We are in the final.
The youngsters did well, they had good performances. It’s important to be in the final, it’s not easy to get to back-to-back finals, it doesn’t matter which competition.
Now we will prepare well and try to win.
@IancarloP was so aggressive with and without the ball, and Philippe Sandler played really good with the ball and defensively as well – they both made a good performance.”
