Manchester City win once more and continue undefeated with 16 of possible 18 points obtained. This keeps us in the top 4 of the league and in good position to ascend to the top of the league.

The midweek loss against Lyon was put on the back of the minds as City swatted aside Cardiff in confident manner.

First-half goals from Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and a phenomenal strike by Ilkay Gundogan left the home side wounded and a brace from Mahrez after the break completed the 5-0 win. Mahrez finally opened his City account today which saw him become the second Algerian to score for the club.

Now, on to the reaction, courtesy of

Pep Reaction

“Riyad played well. He’s a guy who’s going to help us a lot. He is a special talent and in front of the goal he has incredible quality.

“We are so satisfied with him We won 5-0 in Cardiff, conceded few chances, so, yeah, very pleased”

”The season is long, there are a lot of games to play and it’s important after one bad result that the team came back to where it normally is.

“To score goals you have to be patient. We were patient, we didn’t suffer in the long balls and free-kicks and that’s important.”

And on Sergio Aguero, the Catalan opined: “He’s an authentic legend for what he has done in this club and hopefully we can help him stay in a good position to continue this.”

Mahrez Reaction

“I’m really happy to have scored my first goals and to have helped the team - I hop this is just the beginning. I feel better now and I think you can see that on the pitch.

“It took a while to arrive but I knew it would come. I will try to help the team as much as I can.”

”I have to work hard and keep going. As a team, we responded well to our midweek defeat against Lyon.”
