A victory was secured today at home versus Newcastle United. A 2-1 game that saw possession domination, of 76%-24% in City’s favor tells its own story. With just three of the Blues’ 11 shots on target, it did not result in a one sided score.

Newcastle definitely defended well enough and after a wondrous strike by Raheem Sterling (PAY THE MAN) to put City up 1-0, the visitors tied it up with a goal by a blazing fast Deandre Yedlin.

Then, it was a screamer of a goal by Kyle Walker that sealed the win for Manchester City.

The win brings us to 10 points on four games and we sit in fourth. Decent start.

Let’s see the reaction and tweets for this week’s game, courtesy of ManCity.com:

Pep Reaction

“The goal we conceded we defended very badly but in general we didn’t concede many chances,” Pep said after the match. “We conceded few set pieces, free kicks.

”Our performance was good, especially in second half, where we didn’t let them run and create chances.

”We have 10 points from 12. We played arsenal away, so it’s a good result and we are delighted for the guys.”

Kyle Walker Comments

“When they play five at the back, it’s always going to be difficult to break the spaces but I’m glad to have scored,” said Kyle.

“I didn’t get on the score-sheet last season so it’s a happy moment for me.

“Today we adapted the system which helped me a lot and helped me get forward. It was enjoyable out there and it was important to bounce back and get the three points after a disappointing fixture at Wolves.

“But when teams set up like that you are always going to get down on the counter-attack and its something we need to improve on.

“We’ve been done more than last season so there’s still cobwebs out there to brush off from the summer.

“We’re all working hard and training hard on the tactics so hopefully more to come and will come good after the international break.”
