Another day, another story about Jorginho, but this time there are reports that his ongoing move to Manchester City could be hijacked by Chelsea, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Italian international has been on City’s radar all summer and it has been reported the midfielder will join City at some point before he retires. However reports from Italy suggest Chelsea may be ready to hijack the potential deal.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is rumoured to be on the hunt for a new manager at Stamford Bridge, and that man could be the current Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri. And should Sarri join the London team, he may well look at taking Jorginho with him. There is also the suggestion that Abramovich will avoid paying a large payment to release Sarri from his Napoli contract by offering more for Jorginho that what City would be happy to pay.

The deal for Jorginho has been going on for longer than anyone would have liked and it appeared the two clubs had reached an agreement when the player was left out of Napoli’s pre-season training camp, fuelling speculation that his transfer was imminent.

The blues are yet to make their first summer signing, however manager Pep Guardiola has stated that City don’t need to spend big this summer after reinforcing his defence last season. And with Riyad Mahrez also expected to join the blues , it may be possible that the two midfielders will be the only additions to City’s squad this year.

Should City try to sign a new striker? Who else do you think the blues need? Will we end up signing Jorginho’s great grandson instead? Let us know your thoughts.
