Following an entertaining night preseason tour in the United States, the Blues returned to England as they undergo their final preparations for the upcoming 2018/19 English Premier League (EPL) season.
A number of City’s youth players impressed during their American tour, where it is speculated players such as Eric García and Douglas Luiz could make an impact in the upcoming season. Moreover, it seems Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden and Brahim Díaz will remain with the club as the Blues seek to retain the EPL title.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be relieved, however, as several of his senior players returned from holiday after taking part in this summer’s FIFA World Cup. The Catalonian was greeted by Sergio Agüero, Nicolás Otamendi, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho, David Silva, İlkay Gündoğan, Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph and John Stones.
Meanwhile, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sané and Benjamin Mendy joined the Blues whilst they were still on tour in the United States.
City are still without Kyle Walker, Danilo, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne.
Now, with a near-fully fit and rejuvenated squad, the Blues will prepare for the Community Shield this Sunday, where the Blues will face Chelsea. This match will provide Guardiola with a final opportunity to tinker with his squad and formation, as the 2018/19 EPL season kicks off next week. With an entertaining conclusion to the World Cup, and an active 2018 Summer Transfer Window across the EPL, an exciting season of English football is in store.
How might the Blues fare this season?
