Manchester City are set to miss out on heavily touted Brazilian/Italian midfielder Jorginho, who is expected to join Chelsea in the coming days. According to reports in London, Jorginho had his medical on Thursday, ahead of his move to Chelsea, which is expected to be around £57 million.
With this news, it is expected that Maurizio Sarri is heading on his way to Chelsea, after a long, drawn out battle over the summer for the Italian manager. It has been rumored that if Sarri did wind up joining Chelsea, he would be bringing a few Napoli stars with him.
Jorginho, contrary to reports, was expected to join Manchester City. Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentis however claimed to the press that Jorginho had chosen Chelsea.
“If for personal reasons I won’t get into, the player prefers to live in London rather than in Manchester, I can understand him,” De Laurentiis said.
“If Chelsea pay him more, I can understand it too. So I can just apologize to Khaldoon [Al Mubarak].
“But it does not depend on me.
Manchester City quickly refuted De Laurentis, saying Jorginho had no issue playing in Manchester. City officials, according to Stuart Brennon of MEN, were convinced that Jorginho was being used as a pawn to lure Sarri to Chelsea.
#MCFC believe that Jorginho to Chelsea is a ruse. This transfer saga still has legs.

Despite City’s attempts to disclaim the Jorginho to Chelsea rumors, it seemed less and less likely by the minuet that Jorginho would join them. Video surfaced of Jorginho in London’s airport. Which really put a dampen in City fans hopes of landing the midfielder.
Man City are now expected to look elsewhere to bolster their midfield. According to reports, Mateo Kovacic is high on Man City’s radar. Pjanic of Juventus, is also linked to City.
