Riyad Mahrez Signs For Manchester City

News broke on Tuesday evening that Riyad Mahrez was in Manchester, at the CFA, having his medical to become a Manchester City player. Shortly thereafter, the club confirmed on its twitter account that Riyad Mahrez had joined the club.

The deal is expected to cost around £60m with add ons, which could see the deal rise to £75 million. Mahrez signed a 5 year deal with the club, which sees this as the most expensive transfer in Manchester City history.

Speaking shortly after the news broke, Mahrez spoke about his new employer in high regards, stating

“I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola,”

“Watching them from afar has been a pleasure. Pep is committed to playing attacking football, which is a perfect for me, and City’s performances last season were outstanding. They’re redefining the English game and I wanted to be a part of it.

“I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep’s management.”

Mahrez is expected to compete for playing time along the wings with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
