Manchester City’s pursuit of Italian midfielder Jorginho looks no closer to being completed, but his agent believes the deal could happen at’ any moment.’
The move has dragged on since the end of the season, with Napoli reported to have rejected at least two bids from City. However his agent, who has stated all along his client would play for City next season said “City are working to satisfy Napoli’s demands. Any moment could be the right one. The player is in Brazil, I’m in England at my home waiting for a call. As soon as that arrives, I’ll go to meet the City directors.”
Considering the deal was supposed to have been wrapped up before the World Cup started, it is doubtful it will be concluded before the weekend.
Meanwhile the Manchester Evening News reports that Huddersfield midfielder Aaron Mooy will not be returning to City this summer. The blues sold the Australian to the Terriers last summer, and have been rumoured to be interested in bringing Mooy back to Etihad Stadium after a good season in Yorkshire. Mooy has also impressed for Australia at the World Cup, despite his team going out at the group stage.
City are believed to have a £20m buy back clause for the Australian, and were rumoured to be making a move following interest from Everton and Southampton. But the blues are still confident of signing Jorginho, and with Riyad Mahrez or Toni Kroos on the blues radar, a move for Mooy looks unlikely.
Will the Jorginho transfer happen before the start of the season? Sill Mahrez sign? Should City go for Kroos? Let us know your thoughts
