Fabian Delph has praised the magnificent influence Pep Guardiola has had on his career, giving the City boss all the credit with ‘reinventing’ his game during the time together.
From the Manchester City Official Website-
“He has opened my eyes to so much. I didn’t picture football like Pep does. He’s painted the pictures for me,”
“I’m a very traditional English guy who believes in hard work and dedication and giving it absolutely everything. I’m there to fight and pick up second balls, to be that old English type of player, but he has reinvented me.
“Now it’s all about being calm and collected on the ball, being sensible in terms of if someone occupies my position then I need to occupy a different position.”
Delph had a marvelous season as the starting left back in Guardiola’s now famous style of play. After the Benjamin Mendy injury, who was brought in to start by all accounts, Delph slid in and played up to a level never seen by the Englishman. That helped City not only achieve winning the Premier League, but also was a part of the Centurion accomplishment for the team.
What are your expectations for Delph at the World Cup with England and with Manchester City next season?
