Pep Guardiola’s right hand man Domenec Torrent has left his role at Manchester City to become the new head coach at their sister club, New York City FC.

Torrent replaces outgoing boss Patrick Vieira, who was announced as the new manager at French Lique One side Nice. Torrent has followed Guardiola from Barcelona to Bayern Munich and eventually to City, but now feels it is time he became a manager in his own right.

“Though I have enjoyed a wonderful 11 years working alongside my colleague and close friend Pep Guardiola - it has always been my ambition to manage a team again and I really couldn’t have hoped for a better opportunity than at this football club,” said Torrent.

“I’d like to thank the players and all my colleagues at Manchester City for making my time at the football club such a wonderful and memorable experience.”

Torrent becomes the club’s third manager in its five year existence, and we all wish him well in nhis new role.
