Manchester City are on the verge of completing a double deal for Leicester City’s Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez and Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to the BBC.
Mahrez has been on City’s radar since January, when the blues withdrew their £50m offer for the Algerian. Since then, it has been rumoured that manager Pep Guardiola would go back for him in the summer, which now seems to be the case.
The Algerian was named PFA Player of the Year when his Leicester side won the Premier League title in 2016, is rumoured to be costing the blues around £60m
In addition, Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has been heavily linked with a move to the blues, could also be concluded next week. The current fee being touted is £42m, which would take City’s spending to £102m before the World Cup begins.
The Italy international has spent four years at Napoli and made 36 appearances for the Serie A club, and also scored against the blues in the Champions League game last season.
Neither player will be going to Russia for this year’s World Cup as Algeria and Italy failed to qualify for the tournament.
