According to Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News, there is real interest in the France international from the Centurions and Premier League Champions.
PSG may be forced to abandon their plan to sign the forward to comply with financial fair play regulations.
”With UEFA apparently ready to hit the French giants with a financial fair play (FFP) charge, there are serious doubts over whether they can afford the projected £127 million initial outlay for the 19-year-old,” Brennan wrote. “The suggestion is that PSG will have to either abandon their plan to sign on-loan Mbappe, or sell Brazil superstar Neymar this summer.”
With Real Madrid also keeping a close eye on the Frenchman it’s worth noting that Mbappe is on-loan at PSG from French side Monaco. With PSG’s option to buy him being so cost prohibitive, that would possibly limit any other transfer signings this summer transfer window.
In Mbappe, City would add to their already dominant and potent attack of young players, with Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling already on board lighting up the Premier League.
With Neymar transfer rumors also swirling it seems far fetched to believe PSG will offload both Mbappe and the Brazilian. The report also said it was more likely PSG would choose to keep Neymar and let go of Mbappe should such a decision be necessary.
Any deal would have to be completed after the World Cup, so don’t hold your breath.
We’ll keep you updated here all summer on this transfer and all the many to come.
