Today’s transfer headlines continue to link the same few players to Manchester City, who are in the market to upgrade the squad, but not completely overhaul it like last year. It also features a former City favorite linked with a move away from the Premiere League.
Mahrez Close To City Deal: According to Stuart Brennon of the Manchester Evening News, and City correspondent, Riyad Mahrez is close to joining Manchester City in the summer. According to Brennon, terms of the deal are all but completed, with only the agent fee’s to be worked out. The Algerian has desperately wanted a move away from Leicester City, and almost completed a deal in the winter with City, but City walked away due to the asking price. It is now believed that Leicester City are willing to lower their asking price for Mahrez, to avoid another transfer window fallout. Leicester City boss Claude Puel is keen on avoiding a messy transfer window and has instructed the board to negotiate a deal for Mahrez. It is also believed that a player swap could be in the mix. Patrick Roberts was offered in the winter as part of the Mahrez deal. And it is believed that Leicester City are big admirers of the Irishman. Roberts expressed recently his desire to return to the Premiere League. If a deal for Mahrez is to be completed, Roberts could be part of the package to lower the price
Jorginho Commits Himself To Man City: According to various reports out of Italy, Jorginho has committed himself to Man City as long as the fee is agreed upon. Despite interest from other clubs, Jorginho is apparently thrilled at the idea of playing for Pep Guardiola, and has promised himself to him. The deal is apparently tricky, with both sides not close on an evaluation. City have put a €45 million evaluation on the player, but Napoli want €70 million. Though the sides are not close to a deal, speculation out of Italy is that this deal will be completed. Even Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri has dropped hints that his squad could be broken up in the summer. Speaking to the press, Sarri said
“The situation is complicated,” said Sarri. “You can’t say you’re ready to go and try again with this squad when you don’t know that everyone will remain here.
“I don’t know if the club will manage to keep the players who have release clauses when offers will come in from big clubs.”
Joe Hart To NYCFC? According to Talksport, Joe Hart has been offered a way out the Premiere League, with NYCFC apparently offering him a deal. Hart, who has endured a painful 2 year spell away from Man City since Pep Guardiola’s arrival, has been offered a chance to revitalize his career abroad. Hart had two unsuccessful loan spells, the first at Torino in Seria A, and the second at West Ham United, which saw him in and out of the starting XI. According to The Sun, other MLS clubs are also interested in his services, but NYCFC lead the charge to his services due to the links between NYCFC and Man City, owned by the same City Group.
