Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson reckons he “could manage the challenge” of playing in midfield for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Brazilian has been a huge hit since moving to the Premier League in the summer from Benfica and looks completely happy with the ball at his feet.

In an interview with FourFourTwo Ederson has explained how he used to play in midfield and thinks he could play in that position in the Premier League if needed.

“When I played in the Benfica youth teams, they would always call me to play in midfield if someone was missing and I didn’t ever embarrass myself,” he said.

“So, if necessary I’m definitely up to the task. It wouldn’t be easy, especially in the Premier League, but I think I could manage the challenge.”

Ederson has impressed with his range of passing this season but that should not also detract from the fact that he has also made some great saves.

He’s played a big role in City’s huge lead at the top of the table and has quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
