Pep Guardiola has offered an update on the fitness on Benjamin Mendy, Gabriel Jesus and David Silva and it’s promising news as far as the full-back is concerned.
The Manchester City boss said the defender was feeling a lot better and could even be ready to return to first-team training next month.
He was, however, a little more unsure on David Silva who is a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley.
#PEP: @benmendy23 is much, much better. Today he is in NY. I think in two months, maybe March, he will be available and start to train with us.— Manchester City (@ManCity) February 2, 2018
Yesterday @21LVA could not train - he was recovering. He has a painful kick in the side. We will see today how he feels.
Guardiola also said Jesus is out for another four to five weeks which is a bit longer than the last time he spoke about him, as pointed out by Goal’s Sam Lee.
Guardiola on Jesus: "I said in the press conference, he will need 4-5 weeks' rest". He said 3-4 the other day!— Sam Lee (@Sammy_Goal) February 2, 2018
Hopefully Silva will be fit for tomorrow’s game which may be a tough test with Burnley having conceded just nine goals at home in the Premier League this season.
