Preview:
The English Premier League will see an exciting day of fixtures on Boxing Day. Leicester City will host Manchester City on Wednesday.
The Foxes will host the Blues for a second time this week albeit for an EPL fixture. During their previous encounter, Leicester were eliminated in the EFL “Carabao” Cup quarterfinals. Given this previous result, the Foxes will look for revenge as they host England’s champions on Wednesday.
Manchester City, on the other hand, will look to bounce back in the league. The Blues suffered a setback over the weekend as they were shocked by Crystal Palace. City are now four points adrift from the EPL’s top spot. The Blues cannot afford another mix-up, and if they hope to retain the EPL title this season, they will need to win this match.
Team News:
Leicester City are without Daniel Amartey, who is recovering from a broken ankle injury.
Manchester City are without the injured Claudio Bravo, Benjamin Mendy, David Silva and Vincent Kompany.
Possible Lineups:
Leicester City
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Schmeichel; Pereira, Morgan, Maguire, Fuchs; Mendy, Ndidi; Albrighton, Ghezzal, Gray; Vardy
Manager: Claude Paul
Manchester City
Formation: 4-3-3
Ederson; Danilo, Stones, Laporte, Delph; De Bruyne, Gündoğan, B. Silva; Sterling, Agüero, Mahrez
Manager: Pep Guardiola
Prediction:
Leicester have only won seven out of their 18 EPL matches this season and have a goal difference of positive one, having scored 22 goals whilst conceding 21. Nonetheless, they have had some impressive results this season, where they most recently defeated Chelsea over the weekend. Given this result, Leicester will look to accomplish yet another unlikely result on Boxing Day as they host Manchester City.
Meanwhile, the Blues will need to win this match in order to keep pace with Liverpool, the current league leaders. If City hope to retain the EPL title, the Blues cannot afford another slip-up against lower league opponents. Otherwise, they may not win the league this season.
Manchester City have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight fixtures in all competitions. With this statistic in mind, it is predicted City will struggle to keep yet another clean sheet. Nonetheless, it is predicted the Blues will edge out a narrow win.
Leicester City 1-2 Manchester City
