The young talent is officially signed for a whopping five and a half years!
That’s according to The Telegraph who reported that this morning:
Phil Foden, Manchester City’s teenage prodigy, will put pen to paper on a new six-year contract with the Premier League champions on Monday.
The England Under-21 midfielder was out of contract at the end of next season but his new deal will tie him to the Etihad Stadium until June 2024.
Widely regarded as one of the country’s most exciting young prospects, Foden had been linked with Paris St-German, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among a number of other clubs but the 18-year-old had no intention of leaving his boyhood club and is determined to nail down a regular first team place under Pep Guardiola.
Talks over the new deal were resolved in a matter of weeks and City HAVE announced the news today-
He’s one of our own… and that’s the way it’s staying!@philfoden has today signed a new deal at the Club keeping him a #mancity player until 2024!

Foden has made 13 appearances for City this season but he has yet to start a Premier League match for the club.
In recent times, Guardiola has been criticized a bit for not playing younger prospects like Foden, Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho more. This led to, as we all know, Sancho departing for Borussia Dortmund and now playing incredibly well for the German giants.
It is great to see Foden resign, just phenomenal news! Being a local boy makes it that much greater as evidenced by Foden’s tweets-

...I grew up watching and admiring the current team so to now be playing with guys like Vinny and David is crazy and something I smile about every day. Playing for this club means everything. The future is blue pic.twitter.com/iJfIE4LieW

With David Silva not getting any younger and some say an injury prone Kevin De Bruyne, Foden could see plenty of playing time in the coming years alongside Bernardo Silva.
CMON CITY!
