Preview:
Following their respective UEFA Champions League matches last week, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are back underway in the English Premier League. The Spurs will host the Blues at Wembley on Matchday 10.
Tottenham have performed well at the start of the 2018/19 season, having earned seven victories and two losses in nine matches. They hold a goal differential of positive nine, although have struggled to find the back of the net in comparison to last season. The Spurs have managed to score more than two goals on only two occasions, and should they hope to overcome a rampant City side, they will need to increase their goalscoring tally.
Manchester City are one of the EPL’s three remaining undefeated teams this season. They boast a goal different of +24, and they have fixed a lot of their defensive issues from last season. The Blues are in good form, having taken the lead in their UEFA Champions League Group, and following a dominant performance in Ukraine, will hope to replicate this performance in the league.
Team News:
Tottenham Hotspur will be without the injured Vincent Janssen, Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli.
Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo, İlkay Gündoğan, Eliaquim Mangala and Danilo are injured and will not feature in this match.
Possible Lineups:
Tottenham Hotspur
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Sánchez, Davies; Dembélé, Dier; Moura, Eriksen, Son; Kane
Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
Manchester City
Formation: 4-3-3
Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D. Silva; Sterling, Agüero, Mahrez
Manager: Pep Guardiola
Prediction:
Whilst Spurs and City prepare for this match, there is one major concern on their mind. Wembley Stadium recently hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles, two American Football teams. Currently, it seems the pitch will not be in great shape, and this could negatively affect the both teams and their style of play.
Nonetheless, should both teams aim to win silverware this season, they will have to be able to play in any condition. Based on current performance, this match will be close, but it is predicted City will edge this competition.
