Three Manchester City players could be about to give manager Pep Guardiola a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s match against Burnley.
Kevin de Bruyne trained again today, but was joined by Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph, who both missed the midweek internationals through injury. In addition, summer signing Phillipe Sandler was also noted amongst the blues after recovering from surgery that kept him out of pre-season, while striker Sergio Aguero also trained today. The Argentine was not involved in with the Argentina squad for their friendly games with Iraq and Brazil.
De Bruyne was already back in training and could well have featured at Liverpool in the last Premier League match. Guardiola however, decided against risking the midfield kingpin, preferring to ease him back gently against the Clarets.
Guardiola is waiting on news from Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Kyle Walker, who were all with the England squad that won 3-2 in Spain thanks to two goals from Sterling. He is also waiting on Leroy Sane, Vincent Kompany and Bernardo Silva, who all featured in League of Nations matches this week. Nicolas Otamendi, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus and Danilo were all with the Argentina and Brazil squads as the two teams faced each other, with Brazil winning 1-0. Riyad Mahrez is also in line to play for Algeria in their ACON qualifier.
City take on Burnley at the Etihad on Saturday, knowing victory should keep them top of the league on goal difference.
