Manchester City sit top of the league going into the international break, level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool. Many said we would struggle without Kevin de Bruyne running the show, but with the Belgian in contention for a return against Burnley next week, the blues have proved them wrong. So which player has so far stood out for you?
Sergio Aguero
As you would expect, the Argentine is once again City’s top scorer with 8 goals so far, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 battering of Huddersfield, and City’s record goal scorer will no doubt be amongst the goals as the season progresses.
Raheem Sterling
The winger came in for huge amounts of criticism at the World Cup, but has got straight down to business with the blues, banging in four goals and recording two assists so far. Sterlign is still yet to be tied down to a new, long term contract which is worrying some blues, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting him on the pitch
Bernardo Silva
The other Silva has been getting a lot of playing time with de Bruyne out injured and he has taken full advantage, scoring three and getting one assist. But it’s his all round play that has been impressing the fans, has he done enough to impress you?
David Silva
Merlin is showing no signs of slowing down, nor do his skills look like dwindling any time soon. The Spaniard has scored three goals so far. Silva has played 691 minutes so far and will no doubt play a huge part in City’s defence of the Premier League title.
Phil Foden
A lifelong blue, the ‘Stockport Iniesta’ has been limited to substitute appearance so far, but has a very bright future. His performance at Oxford in the League Cup in which he scored one, made one and had a hand in the other, has had fans and pundits raving and looking for more. It won’t be long until he’s a first team regular.
Aymeric Laporte
The defender has looked solid this season and his partnership with John Stones at Liverpool on Sunday limited the Liverpool front line to barely anything. After beign limited to bit parts last season, the defender now looks set to eventually replace the legend that is Vincent Kompany at the heart of City defence.
Ederson
The Brazilian keeper has only conceded three goals in eight Premier League games, keeping five clean sheets and also claimed an assist to Aguero in the match against Huddersfield. City have looked solid at the back since Ederson signed, is he your player of the season so far?
