There’s been a big update in the Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City saga with news that the defender is set for a medical with Pep Guardiola’s side on Tuesday,
Laporte has been left out of the Athletico Bilbao squad for Friday’s clash with Eibar, and seeing as he’s been a virtual ever present this season, his absence is pretty significant.

The plot has thickened though with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that he will have a medical with City on Tuesday.
He’s due to fly in on Monday and City will pay a total of €70 million for his services and he’ll sign a five-year deal.
Pep Guardiola was obviously asked about Laporte in today’s pre-match press conference but didn’t really want to talk about the defender.
Guardiola not willing to update us on Laporte. "He's a player of Athletic Bilbao. You will know if it happens, if it doesn't, it won't happen." "There were players in the past we were interested in, there will be in the future. We will try to do the best we can."

It’s pretty understandable Pep doesn’t want to talk about Laporte, given what happened previously, but all signs indicate that this is a deal that might just get done.
