Eliaquim Mangala is all of a sudden a very in-demand player as we approach Deadline Day and teams are looking to add to their defense. Manchester City want him gone, but they want him to go to West Bromwich Albion so Jonny Evans can come to the Etihad. Inter Milan are still very much in the mix, and there’s a new club joining the race.
It’s Crystal Palace who have now come to the party and made an offer of £23 million to sign Mangala on a permanent deal, according to journalist Charlie Wyett of The Sun.

YES, I KNOW, IT’S THE SUN. We can never believe anything The Sun reports, but maybe they’re right with this one. If they are, things get very interesting. £23 million is more than what City asked of Inter Milan, and they wouldn’t get anything from West Brom if he’s part of the Jonny Evans deal.
Should City cash in on the sale and just give the money they’ll get from this to West Brom so they spend very little on Evans? Again, we have to take this with quite a few grains of salt given it’s a report from The Sun, but if they’re right (which would be a miracle), City have a big decision to make on Deadline Day.
