Gareth Southgate announced on Thursday the England squad for the next round of World Cup Qualifiers, and three Manchester City players are part of the 28-man squad that will take on Malta (September 1) and Slovakia (September 4).

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland, Joe Hart, Jordan Pickford, Tom Heaton
Defenders: Gary Cahill, Phil Jones, Michael Keane, Harry Maguire, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Ryan Bertrand, Aaron Cresswell, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Jake Livermore, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nathaniel Chalobah
Forwards: Jermain Defoe, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy, Danny Welbeck
Kyle Walker, John Stones and Raheem Sterling are part of the list, and all three are certainly in contention to start both games given their club form at the start of the season.
