As we enter the final week of the summer transfer window, Manchester City are still looking at defensive reinforcements. Jonny Evans is still very much a target, but the Blues have their eyes set on another player.
According to Catalan newspaper Diario SPORT, City have sounded out the situation of Espanyol left-back Aarón Martín last week and recently submitted a €20 million offer, with negotiations between the two clubs already underway.
Aarón has a €30 million release clause, but Espanyol seem open to accepting City's offer given their manager Quique Sánchez Flores wants to sign attacking players and would use the funds from Aarón's sale to make a few buys before Deadline Day.
The 20-year-old Spaniard is a quality left-back who can also play in the center of defense, and that versatility is what attracted Pep Guardiola, who has been tracking the player for a few months now and is looking to sign him as a backup to Benjamin Mendy.
City will hope to complete the Evans deal before signing Aarón, but it really seems like the Spaniard could become a Blue this summer.
