Today I simply felt fantastic to be finally back in a football match after so many months! ⚽❤ Even though the game and the result were not what we hoped for, it was really important for me to get touches, tackles and sprints in a competition. There are still many things I want to work on to improve my match fitness, so this game meant a lot to me in order to get back and better than I was before! #backinthegame #roadtorecovery #gironavcity #mancity #mcfc #manchestercity
Ilkay Gundogan made his return to football in Manchester City’s friendly against Girona on Tuesday night in Catalonia. The German missed exactly eight months after suffering a serious knee injury against Watford last December, and has been working hard on his recovery.
Gundogan played about 20 minutes, and he’s clearly very happy to be on the pitch again. The German will most likely have to wait a few more weeks to play competitive matches for City, but the good news is that he’s no longer injured.
Welcome back, Ilkay!
