AT LAST! AT LAST! AT LAST!

Perhaps the biggest saga of the summer transfer window for Manchester City is coming to an end: Benjamin Mendy will leave AS Monaco to join the Sky Blues this summer.

According to a report from L’Equipe, Monaco and City have finally agreed a fee for the Frenchman, who will become the most expensive defender in history. City will pay Monaco £51.5 million, a little more than they did for Kyle Walker, and the deal should be completed this weekend.

Mendy exploded onto the scene as one of the top performers in the incredible season Monaco had, and the 23-year-old attracted interest from multiple clubs. But it was City who showed the strongest interest, but Monaco kept rejecting offers from the Citizens until they agreed to pay the biggest fee ever for a defender. It’s just the market these days, and City obviously have the money.

Mendy is not in the squad for Monaco’s next friendly, and if the deal is completed this weekend he’ll undergo a medical and join his teammates in the United States and could be available for the friendly against Real Madrid in Los Angeles.
