Preseason is here! After two months of insane transfer rumors and insane actual transfers around the world, it’s time to see our favorite team play some ball. Pep Guardiola and Manchester City kick off their preseason in the United States with the International Champions Cup.
The ICC is an over-hyped tournament that gives a team a trophy they won’t celebrate and give fans the chance to overreact to results that have absolutely no effect on the season ahead. Still, watching Europe’s best facing off in meaningless matches is super nice, and City’s first game in the ICC is the first ever Manchester Derby played outside of the United Kingdom.
Manchester United have already played two preseason matches in the US and José Mourinho is testing a bunch of players at the moment. Mourinho and Guardiola have already mentioned how the result of this game doesn’t matter and both coaches just want to see their players building fitness for the season ahead.
Still, this is a Derby, the stadium will be full of City and United fans who don’t get to watch them play in the States regularly, and we can be happy to see our Citizens playing again. With new uniforms, new signings and everything.
This should be fun. Don’t miss it!
