After losing Dani Alves to PSG, Manchester City acted quickly to secure the signing of Kyle Walker. But Pep Guardiola still wants another right-back, and it appears as though the club is giving him that player.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Italia, the Citizens are in advanced talks to sign Brazilian right-back Danilo from Real Madrid this summer after overcoming Chelsea in the race for the 26-year-old. Danilo was Chelsea’s top target for the position, but the Blues refused to meet Madrid’s £31 million asking price, which opened the door for City to steal the player.

Danilo enjoyed a few wonderful seasons at Porto before a millionaire move to Real Madrid that simply did not work. The Brazilian made a few mistakes that cost the fans’ confidence and Danilo was constantly booed by the crowd in home games. Zinedine Zidane only started the player in away matches last season, and he performed very well when called upon.

This looks like a probable deal at the moment, and the fact that Di Marzio is reporting it makes this rumor a little stronger. If Danilo comes, Pep will cover the right side and will be able to send Pablo Maffeo on loan to get experience in Spain. Once Danilo is signed, Pep will hope that City complete deals for Benjamin Mendy of AS Monaco and Ryan Bertrand from Southampton.
