The Brazilian has finally been confirmed as the second signing of the new season, and will officially join the club once the transfer window is open. If the £40 million fee is confirmed, Éderson will be the most expensive goalkeeper in history, and he's signed a six-year contract with the club, which proves that City trust him for the present and the future.
The deal was done last week, but the Premier League requested a number of documents that delayed the confirmation. Benfica owned 50% of the player's rights while his former club Rio Ave had the other half. A confirmation was needed that City paid both clubs and completed the transfer, and a green light was finally given on Thursday.
Éderson is one of the best young keepers in the world, with fantastic shot-stopping and UNBELIEVABLE distribution skills, which make him a perfect Pep Guardiola keeper. After the Claudio Bravo Experiment failed, Pep hopes to finally find a truly great replacement to Joe Hart.
WELCOME, ÉDERSON!
