The first Manchester City signing for next season was a surprising one. One day after releasing four defenders, Pep Guardiola signed a new attacking midfielder, AS Monaco's Bernardo Silva.
The Portuguese was one of the stars of Monaco's sensational season that finished with the Ligue 1 title and a Champions League semi-final appearance, and Bernardo will arrive at the Etihad as a player who perfectly fits Guardiola's system. He's very similar to David Silva, and his signing is a clear sign that Pep wants David to train Bernardo to become the next City Magician Named Silva.
Bernardo spoke for the first time as a City player in the interview above, and you can see right away that he'll have no problem in communication, because his English is perfect. Silva spoke about his time at his childhood club Benfica, his great years at Monaco, his influences and the chance to work with Guardiola at City.
This is a good guy, a smart guy, and a great player. Seems like a good signing already!
