Manchester City released four defenders on Thursday, so naturally they're signing a midfielder in the VERY NEXT DAY.
According to multiple reports, AS Monaco star Bernardo Silva has arrived in Manchester on Friday to undergo a medical and finalize his move to City. The Portuguese was one of the main stars of Monaco's spectacular season that ended with a Champions League semi-final appearance and the French league title.
Bernardo Silva is one of the brightest prospects in football and fits perfectly in Pep Guardiola's system. He's a small, left-footed magician who can play anywhere in midfield and is able to both make incisive passes and beat defenders with his individual skills. He's a very similar player to David Silva, and Guardiola clearly wants Bernardo to learn from David and be another magician in City's midfield.
Silva will also add depth to midfield, and a rotation of Fernandinho, Yaya Touré, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo will give Pep plenty of options to field strong teams and dominate midfield in every match.
The defenders will be signed, don't worry. But we did need another great midfielder, and we've got him.
