Since the 2014/15 season, Manchester City have been linked to Brazil’s Alex Sandro. Unfortunately the Sky Blues missed out on their opportunity to snap up the left-back as he joined Italian side Juventus. However, the rumors have resurfaced and the signing looks more likely than ever.
While this would be a dream come true, there is always a catch. Alex Sandro is being valued at around £60 million, which has sparked debate throughout the fanbase as to whether or not he is worth this fee.
The full-back positions are undoubtedly City’s weakest links, so fresh new signings are absolutely necessary. Alex Sandro is currently one of the best on the planet in his position, and would certainly be a great fit for Pep Guardiola’s team. Along with the almost endless funds being pumped into the club, this signing could be completely justified.
However, there are other options such as Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy who would be cheaper while still being a wonderful talent.
Considering all options, though, Alex Sandro would surely be worth the enormous fee. He is a player that does not come around often, and would improve the defensive line immensely.
