Manchester City play Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semi-final in two weeks, and they won't have their breakout star back in time for the match.
Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has made fantastic progress in the recovery from a broken bone in his foot suffered against AFC Bournemouth two months ago. Initially ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery, Jesus came back to light training ahead of schedule and is pushing for a return in the current campaign.
There was a slight possibility he could even be back for that semi-final against Arsenal, but Pep Guardiola killed that possibility in the post-match press conference following Saturday's Premier League match against Hull City.
“When is the semi-final? Two weeks? I think he’s short.
“We thought the semi-final of the Champions League, but unfortunately it’s gone. Hopefully the final [May 27] if we arrive there, I don’t know. He’s getting better. The last few sunny days he was on the pitch. Normally when you see the weather in Manchester, you stay off the pitch!"
