Sergio Agüero continues to be the subject of plenty of rumors discussing his potential exit from Manchester City. The rumors gained a lot of traction when Agüero spoke after last weekend's match against Swansea City —his second benching in a row— about his fears of being sold by the club in the summer.
El Kun was left on the bench for the last two matches as Pep Guardiola preferred to start new signing Gabriel Jesus against West Ham United and Swansea. The choice paid off as Jesus scored in both matches and single-handedly beat the Swans, and it seems like the Brazilian will be one of the players in City's attacking trio moving forward.
That doesn't mean there is no spot for Agüero, because Guardiola has repeatedly claimed that the two strikers can play together, with Gabriel moving to the left wing position on a 4-3-3 formation. That change means either Leroy Sané or Raheem Sterling would drop to the bench, and apparently this will happen in the next Premier League match.
The Sky Blues travel to the south coast to take on AFC Bournemouth next Monday, and according to a report from the Mirror, Pep Guardiola is planning to start Jesus and Agüero together for the first time this season. The Catalan manager liked what he saw from the duo when they played with each other against the Hammers and Swansea, so he'll give them an opportunity to be together on the pitch from the opening whistle.
This may be the perfect game to test the Agüero-Jesus dynamic, because they will face one of the worst teams in the Premier League at the moment. Bournemouth are winless in six and have conceded 19 goals in those six matches. Their defense has been leaky since they've been in the Premier League, but Eddie Howe's side are in a real struggle to keep opponents from scoring.
Take an on-fire Gabriel Jesus and City's stop scorer in Agüero and put them together to go at the Cherries, and we could be looking at a big Monday Night Football win for the Citizens and a nice scoring day for both Sergio and Jesus.
If they play well together, then we can finally kill the stupid rumors.
