After a long and controversial spell on the sidelines, Yaya Touré has been rejuvenated since his return to the Manchester City side. The veteran has been an absolute powerhouse in the midfield, reminiscent of his form in the 2013/14 season.

This stunning form could be rewarded with a new contract for the club, according to reports. Touré has been determined to remain in the Premier League, rejecting a big money move to China during the January transfer window, and his desire to play in England combined with his performances this season, increase his chances of putting pen to paper and extending his memory-filled stay at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola praised the Ivorian recently, stating his admiration for Yaya’s desire to always wanting to play.

“I spoke about the quality of Yaya, there is no doubt about that. Since I arrived here I said many, many times, so I’m delighted about his performance,” said the Catalan.

“Yaya has a quality that is difficult to find today. He loves football, he loves to play. He is like an amateur. He comes here to enjoy, always wants to train, always wants the ball, always wants to play. I love that.”

These words will certainly fill Yaya with hope and motivation to retain his fantastic form in order to earn a chance to stay at Manchester City.
