New Manchester City signing Gabriel Jesus has hit the ground running, assisting twice and scoring his first goal for the club in just three appearances. This has raised questions over the future of legendary City striker Sergio Agüero. The Argentinian was placed on the bench during his side’s 4-0 routing of West Ham, further bolstering rumors of his exit.

Reports said that Pep Guardiola would listen to offers for the Argentine in the summer, with the usual rumors of an offer from Real Madrid appearing once again, but sources close to Agüero have informed the media that he is happy and is determined to fight for his place in the squad. Additionally, Guardiola is worried about too much change of the squad in the summer, making Agüero’s exit highly unlikely.

Although Gabriel Jesus is the future of Manchester City, Sergio Agüero remains the present and his contributions are absolutely crucial to success at the Etihad. He will not depart for another club next summer and will be motivated to perform well in the rest of this season and beyond to remain the number one striker on the squad.
