Manchester City are reportedly edging closer to finally signing Real Madrid midfielder Isco. The Spaniard has never evaded rumors linking him to the Etihad since he snubbed them for Los Blancos in 2013.

Isco has not been quite as successful at Real Madrid as he may have hoped, falling generally out of favor. This could push him to decide a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu is in his best interest. The creative midfielder has rejected a contract renewal according to speculation, which would force his current club to allow him to depart.

Isco is undoubtedly a fantastic player, however, swaying him to City seems very unnecessary. With David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne already on the same team, on top of growing talents such as Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling playing in midfield, there is no place for a new signing of a similar position.

Isco would probably receive the same fate as he did at Real Madrid and struggle for playing time. There is no need to bring him to the club at this time, but he could be an option as a successor to David Silva in the future.
