It has been made clear that last summer Pep Guardiola attempted to lure Leonardo Bonucci, a player he admires greatly, to Manchester City. Bonucci made comments on Guardiola’s interest, stating that it was not easy for him to turn down a move to the Etihad.
“It was not a decision I took lightly. When one of the best coaches in the world shows so much appreciation and respect, it is hard to say no. My heart prevailed.”
It was disappointing to learn that the club had missed out on arguably the world’s most talented defender, however, City may have their hopes rejuvenated as the Italian has reportedly fallen out with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri. His actions have rewarded him a fine from the Bianconeri and a seat in the stands during his side’s Champions League clash with Porto.
Allegri has a history of getting into spats with his star players. This could motivate the 29-year-old defender to move on to a new club. The most realistic move for him could be to Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Supporters remain hopeful that Bonucci will decide a move to City is in his best interest. If the opportunity to sign a world class player arises, Pep Guardiola will certainly pounce on it.
