Manchester City supporters have been long awaiting the signing of a young, world class full-back as the current options are long past their best days. For a couple of years, AS Monaco right-back Fabinho has been linked with a move to the Etihad along with cross-town rivals Manchester United. Recently however, the Brazilian’s father has spoken to the media about his son’s future.

“We have been in talks with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and approached by Barcelona,” he told French TV show J+1. “We like Manchester United and Mourinho’s work, but we have a soft spot for Manchester City.”

These statements are very inspiring for the Blue side of Manchester. New manager Pep Guardiola is an attractive prospect as anyone in world football would say that playing under the Catalan would be a dream come true. This will surely sway the defender to City should the club decide he is the best option to replace Bacary Sagna, who will reportedly move on in the summer.

Fabinho is an absolute brick wall defensively, which justifies City’s interest. He thrives as a full-back, but he is additionally capable of playing a role as a defensive midfielder should it be required. His passing and vision, combined with his abilities as a defender, will certainly help Guardiola's system in many ways.

It seems that Fabinho may finally put pen to paper and seal a move to City in the summer. The fans will welcome him with open arms considering that they have been yearning for a more fresh full-back for ages.
