Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré has performed fantastically in the last few months after having new life breathed into him by manager Pep Guardiola. He has displayed the same passion and hunger for victory that the supporters once saw early in his City career.

The veteran stated that he will give his best efforts to secure success in the end of this rather inconsistent Premier League season.

“With the players we have, winning is the most beautiful thing that can happen,” he said. “For those fans who have been there for a long, long time and have seen City come close to United and Chelsea, I think it is something special and that is why I want to give more trophies back to the fans.

“We’re looking forward. We still have competitions coming. The Champions League, the FA Cup and we are going to try to do our best for those guys who come to watch and enjoy football. My mentality is always like that. I try, at the end of the season, to lift a trophy - it is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to me.

“I’ve been at this club for a long time. I know what winning means and I know what it means to lift a trophy at the end of the season. I always have the desire all season because when we do not achieve something it is always difficult."

To see Yaya be so passionate about lifting trophies for the City badge warms the hearts of the fans. If this attitude continues he may be handed an extended stay at the end of the season.

The Ivorian additionally touched on how he has enjoyed his time in the Sky Blues shirt.

“My time here has been great. My mentality has always been the same. I always enjoy it. The plan in the beginning was to try to get players to win, to change the club into a winning machine like Manchester United or Barcelona.

“That is what made me decide to come here because what the club was trying to do was bring in big players - winning players. It’s nice when you have to win week in, week out. It’s brilliant and I feel happy when I’m winning because I do not like losing.”

As of late, Touré has been used in a deep lying playmaker role. His passing accuracy and range have benefited the team superbly and proved to Pep Guardiola that this is his favored position, however, he vows to play in any position asked of him.

“I played for Barcelona four or five years ago in a deeper position, so I know what to do,” claimed the 33-year-old. "I’ve been able to play in defense, in midfield, as a striker. If the manager asked me to play goalkeeper I’m capable of that too. I just try to enjoy the game and try to give my experience to the young players.”

Yaya Touré has undoubtedly earned a legendary status with Manchester City, and these quotes further prove it. He will look to end the season on a high and then assess his future come the summer, but maybe the fans will hope to see him remain at the club for one more year!
