Manchester City have signed the promising talent Yangel Herrera as confirmed by Atletico Venezuela, his now former club. The teenage midfielder is one the most highly rated youth players in South America and could have a wonderful career ahead of him at the Etihad.
The 19-year-old was attracting interest from clubs worldwide, but Atlético Venezuela president Rubén Villavicencio stated that only City made an official offer.
The transfer details are currently uncertain, but reports say the transfer fee could be between £2 million and £4 million, and his first City contract will last for four years. Herrera will struggle to acquire a work permit in England at this time, and will likely be sent out on loan with the favorable destination being New York City FC in the MLS.
This is a fantastic pickup for City as Herrera has great potential. He will push for a first team position in the coming years to make his mark at the Etihad.
