Pep Guardiola has been talking Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling ahead of Sunday’s clash against West Ham United at the Etihad on Sunday.

Sane missed the midweek win over Southampton due to illness but Pep is hoping he can be back in contention for the game against David Moyes’s side.

“Leroy Sane sick. He had fever the day of the game versus Southampton. Yesterday he was in training,” he told a pre-match press conference.

“Tomorrow we train and will see what we can do. Vincent Kompany was two months injured, Fernandinho has played a lot, but the most important thing is West Ham.”

Sterling was the hero in midweek, netting a stoppage time winner to keep City eight points clear at the top.

There have been reports today that City are ready to sit down and talk about a new deal for Sterling and although Pep wouldn’t give much away, he is adamant he wants him to stay.

“It’s not my business right now, it’s for Txiki,” he added. “I think I was clear at the beginning of the season when Arsenal wanted him, and we said absolutely not. He’s still young, hopefully we can make him happy and stay longer.

“Believe me, I didn't discover Raheem. It is his talent. He did it in Liverpool, There he played amazing which is why Manchester City took him. We are so happy for him, he’s a nice guy and we love him in the locker room.”

Sane and Sterling will both surely be looking forward to taking on West Ham who have won just twice in the league this season and were thrashed 4-0 by Everton last time out.
