After what felt like 100 years of international break, Manchester City finally return to action with a Premier League match against Stoke City today, and although this seems like an easy game for the Blues, it promises to be a tough one.
Stoke had a very good summer, signing the experienced Darren Fletcher to run things in midfield, two very good young defenders in Kurt Zouma and Kevin Wimmer, and exciting attacking players in Jesé Rodríguez and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Mark Hughes is a good coach, and he loves to face City to try and prove a point against his former employers.
For City, this is an opportunity to establish the team as the Premier League leaders, and if the result of the game between Liverpool and Manchester United is a good one for Pep Guardiola and his men, a win against Stoke will be vital. It’ll be tough, but City can definitely get the victory.
