Pep Guardiola has reportedly sparked talks between his current club, Manchester City, and former club, Bayern Munich, over a summer transfer deal for 23-year-old left-back Juan Bernat.
The young Spaniard has been utilized as an understudy to Bayern star David Alaba, severely limiting his playing time. This could push him to move to a club in which he will be awarded more minutes on the pitch. Reuniting with Guardiola would make it Bernat’s second time being recruited by the Catalan. Pep has made Bernat a primary target for the summer transfer window.
This rumor is very likely to be true as the player would mold perfectly into Pep Guardiola’s heavily tactical side. It is quite obvious that Pep admires the Spain international’s comfort on the ball and high pass success rate.
If Bernat were to put pen to paper, this could rejuvenate City’s back line. With the biggest weakness coming from the left defensive flank, Bernat would walk into the side and make a difference almost immediately. Supporters should cross their fingers in hopes that mastermind Guardiola will pounce on this opportunity and sway the defender into bringing his services to the Etihad.
