Wednesday night will be a British night in the UEFA Champions League, as Celtic FC clash with Manchester City at Celtic Park in the second group stage match for both teams. They've had very different opening matches two weeks ago, and both hope to get a victory for different reasons.
Celtic were destroyed by Barcelona, losing 7-0 with very little good things to be happy about. Brendan Rodgers couldn't trouble the Catalan giants in any way, and he and his men need to put in a big performance and try to pick up points against Pep Guardiola's side. City on the other hand dominated Borussia Mönchengladbach, winning 4-0 with a Sergio Agüero hat-trick, one of the ten victories in the Citizens' perfect start to the season.
Guardiola has a huge absentee for Wednesday: star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday's match against Swansea City and will miss the next four weeks of action. Captain Vincent Kompany also misses through injury, which isn't breaking news but it's still bad news.
This is the full list of players missing Wednesday's game through injury/suspension:
Player (Team), Status
Dedryck Boyata (Celtic), Out (Unspecified)
Dorus de Vries (Celtic), Doubtful (Chest)
Vincent Kompany (Man City), Out (Groin)
Yaya Touré (Man City) Out (Club suspension)
Kevin De Bruyne (Man City), Out (Hamstring)
Fabian Delph (Man City), Doubtful (Calf)
