The first signing of the Pep Guardiola Era is perhaps the most important one, and every Manchester City fan cannot wait to watch Ilkay Gundogan in action. But the German international is currently nursing a knee injury and is yet to train with the squad since Guardiola took over.

Gundogan is in the final steps of his recovery process before hitting the training ground again, and he spoke to City's website about his rehab, when he plans to make his City debut, and also talked about his fascination with Guardiola's training methods.

“I’m really looking forward to training normally with the guys and I can’t wait to get going properly -but I just have to be patient for a little while longer.

“I’m working hard on my rehab everything is going well so I hope it will be end of August or the beginning of September – of course, it all depends on how things develop over the next few days and weeks.

“Maybe just after the World Cup qualifiers and perhaps the Manchester derby – that would be very nice.

“I want to help team as soon as I can. I’m curious about the training which looks really interesting and I’ve been in on the video meetings which have been really fun.

“There is a lot to learn, so as I say, I can’t wait to be part of training and the matches but I just need to remain patient.”

Please take your time and come back healthy, Ily. But if you do debut in the Derby, please be awesome already and take down United. Thanks.
